Managing Domain-Oriented Spoken Conversation
نویسندگان
چکیده
So far nearly all spoken dialogue systems (SDSs) have been task-oriented. An important question for the future of SDSs is what happens to dialogue management if we move beyond the task-oriented system to domainoriented systems which are no longer defined in terms of the tasks they support. This paper discusses conversation management for domain-oriented systems by describing the solution adopted in the recently completed first prototype of a system which enables primarily 10-18 years old users to have conversation with life-like animated fairytale author Hans Christian Andersen.

Domain-Oriented Conversation with H.C. Andersen
This paper describes the first running prototype of a system for domain-oriented spoken conversation with life-like animated fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen. Following a brief description of the system architecture, we present our approach to the highly interrelated issues of making Andersen life-like, capable of domain-oriented conversation, and affective. The paper concludes with a ...
متن کاملUsability Evaluation of Multimodal and Domain-Oriented Spoken Language Dialogue Systems
Considerable work has been done regarding usability evaluation of task-oriented unimodal spoken language dialogue systems (SLDSs). However, there are still important gaps in our knowledge even in this area. If we move to multimodal task-oriented SLDSs, there are more challenges ahead primarily due to the combination of different modalities. For non-task-oriented conversational SLDSs, a major ch...
متن کاملLanguage processing in the natural world.
The authors argue that a more complete understanding of how people produce and comprehend language will require investigating real-time spoken-language processing in natural tasks, including those that require goal-oriented unscripted conversation. One promising methodology for such studies is monitoring eye movements as speakers and listeners perform natural tasks. Three lines of research that...
متن کاملMeasuring Relative Target User Group Success in Spoken Conversation for Edutainment
The paper presents corpus data obtained from a relatively large field test of a Wizard of Oz (WoZ)-simulated specification of a multimodal domain-oriented spoken conversation system for edutainment. As the system design targets 10-18 years old users, a metrics is proposed for measuring the extent to which the simulated system specifically manages to appeal to its target user group. The metrics ...
متن کاملAnalysis of head movements and its role in spoken dialogue
In this research, we analyzed the relationship between semantics of utterances and movements of head in a natural dialogue and a task oriented one in Japanese. We are going to show that visual information such as head movement will be useful for managing a dialogue and reducing the vagueness of semantics. First we extracted the head movements calculated automatically in a natural conversation a...
